Sky-Watcher Reflectors Editorial Review

The Sky-Watcher HEQ5 is a viable option for astrophotography given its payload capacity of 22lbs once counterweights are added. The mount support latitude ranges from 15° and will need pier extension beyond that. The mount requires a V-style saddle for compatibility. The SynScan app doesn't require wifi to operate; a SynScan hand controller will work just fine. Despite these advantages, customers have experienced difficulties with delivery and handling of the package, missing items like the mount itself, and not receiving the complete mount as described. There are issues with tracking and backlash which can be overcome but it would have been nice if it came with a power supply. The mount is solid but heavy with 12V power supply via cigarette lighter plug.
