The PacTool SS424 Backerboard shear is a powerful tool designed for fiber cement cutting. It can cut through HardieBacker board quickly and easily, leaving minimal clean up. Despite being advertised as not for cutting siding, it can cut cement board siding as well. However, it is not suitable for cutting sidings that are already installed as the cutting mechanism requires at least 1" space behind the board to move freely. The cutting head cannot be rotated at 90 degrees to the handle. The motor is not the same as the SS404 and SS400 snapper shears, although the blades might be interchangeable, according to the manufacturer. The tool is durable and able to hold up well to multiple uses. It is recommended for those who work with HardieBacker board frequently.
