What are the safety features of the Atlanta II Cooler?
Answer: It features asymmetrical steel safety toes that meet ASTM safety standards for impact and electrical hazards. -

Are the insoles removable?
Answer: Yes, the KEEN Utility products have removable PU insoles for easy replacement with custom orthotics. -
Question:
How do these shoes perform in wet conditions?
Answer: The shoes meet oil- and slip-resistant safety standards, and the siped outsole disperses liquids quickly for increased traction. -
Question:
The Keen Atlantas has material between the leather on the sides, but in these pictures you can clearly see through the shoes. Are these missing it?
Answer: They are open ! I was not happy with this, they are not good shoes for a welder! -
Question:
Are these good for trail hiking in and out of water occasionally?
Answer: A solid mid-duty trail shoe, easy to break-in, breathable (if not the waterproof model) and the 'wide' is truly that -unlike so many other brands. Don't expect them to last under heavy use -the sole, glue, etc will, but the midsole-outsole support will wear thin to the point that you will feel the rocks, etc particularly in the balls of your feet. Merrill was sold to a Chinese company appx 10+ years ago (as many other brands like Vasque). Their proprietary waterproof 'membrane' I suspect is simply a latex sock/bootie (which I will confirm when my 'waterproof' ones wear out and I complete an autopsy). In other words, the 'Waterproof' version outright sucks as it is not vy waterproof (usually 'resistant' will suit my needs on most outings) and is completely unbreatheable so your feet will be wet whether raining, stream-fording, dew-hiking or not. I wish I had not bought them. -
Question:
Do you have to wear socks with these? Not like a tradition Keen sandal?
Answer: Socks optional. Just a sandal with a steel safety toe. -
Question:
what about actual weight? Using now 350 grams per one(9.5) this one looks heavier.
Answer: Not sure of the weight in grams but I can tell you they are average in weight with the rest of the steel toe shoes out there.

However, it is not a good option for welders as the shoe is open and does not have the necessary materials to protect against welding conditions.
