What size mallet (12 or 18oz) is best for woodcarving 1x2 foot designs using "standard" to "intermediate" tools?
Answer: In my opinion the 12oz. If your carving entails to do precise (fine) detailing, the 18oz will begin to hurt your hand. I find that the the heavier the mallet you have a tendency to hold it tight. With the 12oz your hand will be more relaxed & use it for longer and most importantly better control. It is a well balanced tool. -

Answer: works for both hand -

Can this mallet be used for batoning a froe or is there a better option?
Answer: Not advisable -

Can this be used for jointing pieces together
Answer: Depending on what the jointing is like, i have used it for gentle tapping. Only thing is you need to make sure when using the mallet it strikes flat on your timber surface for best result. -

Will this hammer withstand chisel work or will the urethane break down or bruise?
Answer: It is a tough urethane coating. It will withstand mallet blows for chisel work or gouges. -

Can the MA-18 be used to pound on food?
Answer: This product is not FDA approved, as well as not made from Food Grade Material. We will not recommend to use it to pound on food. -

I plan to use this for bench chisels. Is this good for general purpose or is the 12 ounce the better option? Thanks
Answer: I use this for bench chisels and for carving gouges. It’s a good all-around choice for most woodworking uses. -
