It is well-written by a group of knowledgeable people and is a must-have for all writers, not just sci-fi/fantasy fans. The inclusion of lists of definitions allows the reader to easily go back and reference them for future use. However, despite the quality of the content, some readers were disappointed that the book is a reprint of two earlier books (How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy by Orson Scott Card and The Writer's Complete Fantasy Reference) now published as one. As a result, the print is tiny, and it's not a pleasant reading experience. Nevertheless, the book still receives three stars as the material is still good many years after first publication, and it provides guidance and encouragement to aspiring writers.
