The diffuser has a plastic chamber where the user can put in drops of essential oils and then add water, which creates a mist of water and oil that scents and humidifies the room. There is an option to use the diffuser without light so users who sleep in absolute darkness can still use the product. The Himalayan salt rocks ARE NOT in the water, they are in a separate area underneath the tank that holds the water and oil.
