Kanto Computer Speakers Editorial Review
The Kanto YU2 is a pair of active desktop computer speakers that do not require an external amplifier to be powered. They come with almost everything needed to connect to a computer, with a 3.5mm AUX cable and power cable with adapter. One USB connection to the computer is needed as a single audio device. According to the FAQ, two devices can be connected to the speakers simultaneously using USB and AUX. The speakers are made from high-quality material, including a real wood veneer (Bamboo and Walnut), which can be stained, though the clear sealer used may inhibit staining. The YU2 speakers do not have a standby mode and need to be turned on/off using the volume control knob located at the back of the speakers. In general, the sound quality of these speakers has received positive feedback. They’re an upgrade in sound quality compared to most computer speakers, with nice, clear vocals and surround sounds. For music, a powered subwoofer is recommended. Some other downsides have been highlighted, such as the occasional hiss from the speakers when no sound is being played, and issues with the power supply. Bluetooth connectivity is not built into these speakers, which could be a downside when compared to other options at the same price range.
